Jigawa Forum warns on disintegrating Nigeria

By Bayo Alabira

The Jigawa state Forum has condemned the inhuman arrest and treatment meted out to 486 suspected Jigawa state indigents in Abia state over alleged Boko Haram connections.
According to the release issued yesterday in Dutse, the state capital, by the Forum’s Director-general, Comrade Yahaya Ibrahim, the action has grossly violated their fundamental human rights as patriotic and innocent Nigerians searching for their lawful livelihoods.

He said “it was unfortunate if northerners will be the target of arbitrary arrest leveling them as Boko Haram suspects in southern parts of this country.”
The release said: “Virtually all the arrested northerners had no link with Boko Haram, therefore are warning Federal government that such action could lead to the fueling enmity between northerners and the southerners.
“The Forum is not in support of Boko Haram or any insurgency actions, but what we are saying is that the innocent citizens should not suffer because some evil-minded people come from their area.
“This action could not yield any positive result for the country rather than disintegration of the nation especially at this challenging period.”
