Jigawa : Flood submerged 500 houses in Ringing

The acting Chapman of Ringing local government area of Jigawa state, Honourable Aliyu ABUBAKAR Dangare, has appealed to state and federal government as well as wealthy individuals to assist victims of flood disaster in the area.

He made the appeal while addressing reporters on the calamity that hit the areas as result of flood where over 600 houses were washed away.

He said farms lands were submerged in about 60 villages in the local government, adding that some of the villages are located in a hard to reached part of the LGA.

He explained that several heavy machines have stationed in various areas that are seriously affected and are working day and night to drain the water.

“When we started, we bought about 5000 empty bags to fill them with sand for embankment and later on we purchased 7000, and presently we bought over 10,000 bags to create embankment across the affected areas”, he stressed.

He therefore called on well-meaning Nigerians to assist those affected by the disaster.

“The state government will soon come in and give its assistant to augment what the LGA has done so far to reduce the hardship being faced by the victims.”
