Jigawa crime rate on the increase – NSCDC

Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa state chapter, Muhammad Abdu Durumin Iya has said the crime rate in 2017 was too high compared to that of 2016.
He stated that the command recorded 1,204 cases of both civil and criminal offences in 2017, compared to 777 in 2016, stressing that every market day in the state such as Gujungu, Maigatari, Suwarin and Sara was being marked with armed robbery.
Iya, while addressing reporters during the end of the year review yesterday in Dutse said the arrest was between January to the end of December 2017, saying out of the number, 321 cases were criminal, while 883 were civil in nature.
“The criminal cases include theft, armed banditry, burglary, rape and its related offences. Others are fraud, gross indecency, vandalism, conspiracy, gross misconduct, assault, illegal petroleum transactions, habouring of illicit drugs, trespasses, arson, and breach of trust,” he explained.
