The Jigawa State Executive Council has approved a loan of N3,360,000,000.00 billion to the State Pilgrims Welfare Board to reserve and safeguard 400 seats for intending pilgrims in the 2025 Hajj operations.
This was made known in a release issued Wednesday by the Commissioner of Information and Community Development, Mr Sagir Musa.
He said the approval comes after the board’s timely refund of a N2.2 billion loan granted in 2024.
The council, chaired by Governor Malam Umar Namadi, also made other significant decisions that will bring divedends of democracy to the people.
“To strengthen the state’s Health Insurance Scheme, the council approved the inclusion of all political office holders into the Jigawa State Contributory Health Management Agency (JICHMA) scheme.
“This move aims to improve universal health coverage in the state and Nigeria at large,” he said.
He said additionally, the council has ratified the executive approval for the release of N250,000,000.00 million as a matching fund for the purchase of Ready to Use Therapeutic Foods (RUTF) in partnership with UNICEF.
