Ja’afaru is new prisons boss

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Ahmed Ja’afaru as the Controller-General of the Nigeria Prisons Service (NPS) and the Mohammed Babandede as the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Bassey Okon Akpanyung, said this in a statement issued in Abuja yesterday.

Until his appointment, Ahmed Ja’afaru was an Assistant Controller General of the Nigeria Prisons Service at the Headquarters.
He replaces Dr Peter Ezenwa Ekpendu, who retired from the Service after the mandatory 35 years in service.

Until his appointment to head Immigration service, Babandede was a Deputy Comptroller General (DCG) of the Nigeria Immigration Service Headquarters.
He replaced Martin Kure Abeshi, who retired from the Service at the end of his tenure.
The appointment of Mohammed Babandede took effect from May 15, 2016.
