Political bigwig, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu and former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, weekend, stormed Ikeduru township stadium for the thanksgiving and grand reception of Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, gunning for a second term in the Senate, and asked the people of Owerri zone to do everything to ensure that the senator returns to the Senate to complete his good works.
Addressing a mammoth crowd from Owerri zone, Iwuanyanwu, who is the political godfather of the senator, made it clear that only a second term was what he needed to complete his good works and asked those suggesting that the senator should go for governorship contest in 2019 to shelve the idea and support his return to the Senate.
Also speaking, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, who spearheaded his campaign in 2015, made it clear that Anyanwu had performed well so far and should be given another opportunity to go back to the Senate, thus ending the rumour making the rounds that he was campaigning for Rep Ezenwa Onyewuchi of Owerri federal constituency to take over from Anyanwu in 2019.
Other personalities like Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, who was conferred with a chieftaincy title of “Enyioma Ndi Ikeduru”, Hope Uzodinma, Stella Oduah, Moa Ohabunwa, Peter Nwaoboshi, Olujimi, Uwajumogu, T.A. Orji, Goswill Akpabio, Ahmad Lawan, Abdullahi Gumel etc all rooted for him and recognised him as one of the “shakers and movers” of the Senate whose contributions have shaped democracy and lifted the country since 2015.
Meanwhile, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has said that the hope of Nigerians was in PDP as the days of intimidation by the ruling party was over, adding that the ruling party had done everything to stop him but he resisted them.
Wike advised party faithful to be ready to fight back any time the need arises in order to stamp their authority. He said as a projects man, he would always support any project by Sam Daddy like the Civic Centre being built, to help put the machinery in place for his second term.
