IWD: Yobe group seeks women day school

A group, Hope Interactive, in collaboration with Conciliation Resources, has staged a street walk to commemorate international women’s day in Damaturu, the state capital called on the state government to establish women day secondary school across the major cities.

Speaking shortly after the street walk, the programme manager, Hope Interactive, Adamu Yahaya, said the commemoration of women’s day is everyone’s responsibility and it remained very important in every sphere of human endeavour.

According to him, the commemoration of the day was not just to show the society that they celebrated women but to create more awareness on the significant roles women play in societal development and nation building.

“We are here to tell the world that women are very important in every aspect of life and government should create more skills acquisition and empower more women to bring them into decision making,” he said.

Joy Nyema from Hope Interactive urged Yobe state government to help women realise their rights, and support them in the aspect of education.
