I’ve forgiven Plateau workers – Shendam council boss

Chairman of Shendam local government council in Plateau state, Hon. Nicholas Kemi Nshe, has said that he had forgiven Plateau state workers who attempted to lynch him at the Rwang Pam Township Stadium, Jos, on May Day.
Attributing the workers’ unruly conduct to misinformation and misunderstanding, Nshe said if the workers knew that he had not in any way obstructed or frustrated their wages claims and struggle for improved welfare, they would not have indulged in such reprehensible conduct.

Nshe said his relationship with organised labour was a robust one, and was actually at the Rwang Pam Township stadium venue of the May Day celebration in Plateau because he was invited officially by the leadership of labour, having reckoned with his pedigree and contributions to the union in the country.

In Shendam local government council, Nshe noted that his relationship with the workers was cordial and healthy, maintaining that he was up-to-date in the payment of workers’ salaries and other claims, and staff motivation and happiness were quite high.
Nshe also said the development went a long way to clear him of accusation of grandstanding and complicity in instances of government face off with organised labour in the state, pointing out that “I am a victim of circumstance either way”.

It would be recalled that on May Day, this year, it took brilliant and dutiful security intervention to ward off attempts by an angry labour mob to lynch Nshe whom they accused of betrayaland anti-labour antics.
