IPAC commends South-east govs over IPOB’s proscription

Th e Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Plateau State Chapter, said it was displeased with the recent situation in the South-east and violence in Jos, Platea state. It commended the South east governors, for proscribing the IPOB. IPAC in a press release signed by its Secretary Hon. Abdul Abdul, said activities of some mischief makers who are trying to put the state capital into another round of violent confl ict, is condemnable.

It said: “all the political parties on the Plateau, we wish to state categorically that such action of those unscrupulous elements is: detestable, condemnable, mischievous, and even criminal in its entirety, without any iota of reservation whatsoever.” IPAC also commended the Plateau State Government on its eff ort to bring the leaders of the various communities together to chart the course of peace and peaceful coexistence among the people of Plateau State, and also in calming the situation by imposing a dusk to dawn curfew, and the deployment of security operatives to all fl ash points in the state.

Th e Council calls on the Government of Plateau State and the security not to prolong the said curfew for too long so as to allow citizens enjoy their Constitutional rights to freedom of movement as enshrined in the Constitution and the laws. “More so, we urge all well meaning Nigerians residence in Plateau State to embrace the path of peace irrespective of social, political, ethnic or religious affi liation and avoid any act capable of undermining the fragile peace we enjoy and/or even tarnishing the image of our Dear State and the Country as a whole.
