The Chief of Mission Nigeria, International Organisation for Migration (IOM), Miss Paola Pace, has lauded the collaborative humanitarian efforts in Benue state.
She expressed satisfaction with the level of partnership between the IOM, government, and other stakeholders.
During her visit to assess the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps in the state, Miss Pace commended the significant progress made in providing relief and sustainable solutions for displaced persons.
She highlighted several critical projects executed by the IOM in the last three months, including, decongesting overcrowded IDP camps, providing a mini waterworks system at the Ortese Camp, constructing an ultra-modern conference hall at the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) headquarters and building additional shelters in IDP and refugee camps in Ikyogen.
She also mentioned others to include training volunteers to enhance humanitarian efforts, intervening in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) services and addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and providing psychosocial support for IDPs.
Miss Pace assured the government and people of Benue state that the IOM remains committed to strengthening partnerships and attracting more international collaborators to support ongoing efforts.
