Investors’ wealth improves by N61bn as Seplat leads gainers table

Trading activities on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange NSE) yesterday retained growth profile following gains recorded by some blue chip companies.

Petroleum Development led gainers table, appreciating by N18.50 kobo to close at N388.50 kobo, Forte Oil followed with a gain of N4.66 kobo to close at N211.00, Nigerian Breweries gained N4.07 kobo to close at N140.07 kobo.

Unilever Nigeria Plc increased by N3.48 kobo to close at N37.48 kobo and PZ Industries rose by N1.27 kobo to close at N26.82 kobo. Conversely, Presco Plc topped losers chart, shedding N1.31 kobo to close at N26.47 kobo, Dangote Cement trailed with a loss of N1.25 kobo to close at N151.35 kobo while Stanbic IBTC declined to N1.00 to close at N28.00. UAC Property fell by N0.88 kobo to close at N32.60 kobo and Ecobank Transnational Incorporated shed N0.37 kobo to close at N17.63 kobo. The NSE trading result showed that the market capitalisation appreciated by N61 billion or 0.61 per cent to N10.035 trillion from N9.974 trillion traded the previous day.

Also All Share Index went up by 183.10 basis points to 30073.10 from 29889.91 recorded on Wednesday.

Financial Service Sector led activities for the day with account of 618.080 million shares worth N3.202 billion in 2504 deals. Banking Subsector was the most active in the sector accounting for 424.380 million share valued at N2.391 billion in 1922 deals   United Bank for Africa (UBA) was toast of investors in the subsector, trading 291.443 million shares worth N1.117 billion in 607 deals,  Access bank traded  58.400  million shares cost N331.209 million in 322 deals.

Other Financial Institutions followed in the sector with account of 99.162 million shares worth N608.442 million in 893 deals.  FBN Holdings sold 57.339 million shares valued at N488.903 million.

Insurance brokers, services traded 92.835 million shares valued at N202.089 million in 74 deals  Mansard Insurance Plc was the investors delight in Insurance sector with a total of  60.490 million shares valued at N184.495 million in 19 deals, Transnational Corporation of Nigeria traded 59.113 million shares worth N171.007 million in 222 deals.

In all investors bought 723.623 million shares  worth N7.187 billion in 4531 deals against 433.870 million shares valued at N4.004 billion exchanged hands in 3915 deals.
