Investors stake shares worth N2.80bn

Volume of activities on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) remained high as investors traded 1.918 billion shares worth N2.803 billion in 2807 deals.

This is against 131.430 million shares valued at N1.403 billion exchanged hands the previous day in 2786 deals.

The transactions during the day showed that market capitalisation increased by N1 billion to N11.593 trillion from N11.592 trillion reported the previous day.

Also the NSE All Share Index added 4.05 basis points to 30833.50 points from 30829.45 points traded on Wednesday.

A breakdown of the investment for the day, indicated that Presco Plc led gainers table during the day, increasing N6.00 to close at N68.00, Nascon followed with a gain of N1.80 kobo to close at N20.00, Guaranty Trust Bank added N0.90 kobo to close at N36.90 kobo, C & I Leasing appreciated by N0.72 kobo to close at N7.99 kobo while UAC of Nigeria grew by N0.20 kobo to close at N8.00.

On the contrary, Cement Company of Northern Nigeria (CCNN) recorded the highest loss for the day, declining by N1.00 to close at N19.00, PZ Cusson trailed with loss of N0.50 kobo to close at N9.50 kobo, Dangote floor down by N0.50 kobo to close at N10.50 kobo, Union Bank of Nigeria dropped by N0.50 kobo to close at N6.60 kobo while Cadbury Nigeria Plc sheds N0.30 kobo to close at N10.90 kobo.

Further breakdown of the transactions showed that Wema Bank Plc was investors delight accounting for 1.703 billion shares valued at N1.275 billion, Chams Plc followed with account of 99.531 million shares cost N19.912 million, United Bank for Africa exchanged 17.380 million shares valued at N133.959 million, Sterling Bank sold 13.132 million shares cost N31.399 million while Zenith Bank Plc exchanged 9.516 million shares valued at N207.378 million.
