‘Int’l Peace Day: Solution to peace lies with govt’

 

Women for Peace in Nigeria (WOPIN) has appeal to government at all levels to channel resources to building valid infrastructure, saying doing so would provide enabling environment for people to discover theirpotential that would drive home lasting peace in the country.

WOPIN observed that no matter the increase in salary and wages of a nation, absent of dependable and sustainable development and infrastructure made matters more difficult and cumbersome without
roads, electricity, education, hospital and housing.

National President of WOPIN and Women for Peace International Dr. Maryam C. Abdullahi, made observations in a statement issued to mark the World International Peace Day.

Maryam said family welfare was key in any initiation toward any peace building effort, advocating that providing rural roads and electrification were catalyst to achieving peace.

“If people are living together with the essentialities of life without over dependent on one another, peace will be there”, she said, noted that the theme for 2017, World International Peace Day, “Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All”, was accurate and timely, adding that
rather than cash indolent and fraud, wealth creation and distribution should be encouraged by governments at all levels.
