International conference on pastoralists in Africa opens today in Kaduna

An international conference on security and development challenges in West and Central Africa is scheduled to begin  today in Kaduna. The  two-day event which organised by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) is to be declared opened by President Goodluck Jonathan.
The event which is expected to bring together key stakeholders within the continent of Africa has as its theme: “The Role of Pastoralists in Preventing Insurgency and Conflicts for enhanced National Security”.

The objective of the conference is to identify key challenges facing pastoralists and other stakeholders and their consequences on national security. It is also expected to provide a medium to achieve synergy among all pastoralists, other stakeholders and security agencies to tackle the menace of terrorism, insurgency, cattle rustling, command clashes  and threat to national security.
The conference is part of the ongoing effort by the ONSA to create awareness, collaboration and also reach critical stakeholders as way of finding lasting solution to security challenges in Nigeria and Africa in general.
