Intending pilgrims must undergo intensive orientation – Uja

Abuja

Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev. Tor Uja, has said that “beginning from this year, every intending Christian pilgrim must undergo intensive orientation programme to be organised by the Commission before departure to the Holy Land.”
He stated this recently in Abuja during the strategic Review Meeting of Pilgrimage Leaders and Managers of the 36 states and the FCT.
He added that the “need for such orientation cannot be over emphasised,” saying “we need to expose our pilgrims to the issue of development, Leadership and nationalism.”
Uja explained that the Commission would embark on the construction of pilgrimage Heritage Camps this year where intending pilgrims would be accommodated for a few days before their departure to the Holy Land.
He added that the Commission would kick-start the construction of the pilgrimage Camps from the FCT and replicate it in some other cities.
Uja also disclosed that the 2018 Easter Pilgrimage would commence in March and that the Commission had screened a number of intending pilgrims in some states and would continue the screening of intending pilgrims and self-sponsored pilgrims “in the coming weeks.”
Blueprint reports that the strategic review meeting of NCPC with the pilgrimage leaders and managers was the first this year and it afforded the leaders the opportunity to brainstorm and review the 2017 Christian Pilgrimage.
The NCPC boss also disclosed that “henceforth the meeting of pilgrimage leaders and managers would to be on a rotational basis,” adding that Awka Ibom state would host the next meeting in April.
