With the recent attack on Babbangida community in Yobe state which led to closure of the Government Girls Science Technical College (GGSTC) Dapchi, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Yobe state command has redeployed its personnel to secondary schools across the state to provide them with safety.
NSCDC Yobe state commandant, Ayinla Olowo, disclosed Monday whenhe paid an unscheduled visit to some schools in the three zones to ensure strict compliance to posting of armed personnel to boarding schools prone to attacks.
“They cannot go to classes with fear in their heart and listen to their teachers. The GGSTC Dapchi that was closed down was as result of fear, though our personnel are still there in the school.
“We cannot take chances. In all the schools I visited, our personnel are there to provide cover for the students; so parents should not panic,” he said.
Among the schools visited by the state commandant, include, FGGC
Potiskum, GSS Jajimaji, GGSS Ngelzarma, and Unity School Damaturu which houses two schools from Buni-yadi among others.
