Insurgency: Christian leaders pray for Nigeria

As part of efforts to tame the menace of insurgency, kidnappings and other violent crimes in the country, Christian leaders from around the globe will converge in Benin City, Edo state, for the annual Christian Convention to offer supplications for a peaceful Nigeria.

The seven-day Convention which begins on October 23 is christened Bible Alive Believers International Convention (BABIC) and organised by the Gospel Light International Ministry (GLIM).

A statement issued by DeaconRalph Okhiria, Media Aide to the National President of PFN and General Superintendent of New Covenant Gospel Church (NCGC), Rev Dr Felix Omobude, said Frontline Church leaders expected at the gospel event included Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, Bishop Mike Okonkwo, Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, Dr Reggies Wenyika, amongst others

 

 

Kano commissioner sanctions 2 over malaria drugs

By Bashir Mohammed Kano Two senior health workers in Karaye local government area of Kano state were yesterday relieved of their positions for allegedly concealing free malaria drugs provided by the state government.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr Kabiru Ibrahim Getso, disclosed this yesterday while supervising the conduct of immunisation against polio and other child diseases in the area.

Getso, who expressed dismay over the attitude of some health workers which he described as “unethical and inhuman” stressed that government would not spare any body found wanting.

According to him, government is doing its best in providing drugs and an enabling environment, “but some people are trying to sabotage the good initiative.

” Those affected were the officers-in-charge of Karaye facility, Malan Tasiu Aliyu, and the one in-charge of drugs.

In a related development, two health workers in the laboratory unit were served with a query for extorting patients.

The commissioner called on all health workers in the state to do their work with the fear of Allah, to justify their earnings, saying that government was not willing to frustrate anybody “except those that are not ready to do the right thing.”
