Insurance Feeders walk tight rope after another stalemate in NPFL U17 tourney

The chances and hope of Bendel Insurance Feeders securing the sole ticket to qualifying from the South South Zone to the finals of the maiden Nigeria Premier Football under 17 youth league  are now very slim as they ended their Match Day two game with Akwa United in a goaless stalemate.

The Young Benin Arsenals who started the game at the Adokiye Amiesimaka stadium impressively were unlucky to get a goal to crown their impressive performance and dominance, leading to a 0-0 scoreline at the end of the encounter.

Insurance Feeders started the zonal qualification tournament with a 2-2 draw against Rivers United Under 17 on Thursday at the same Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in PortHarcourt.

The barren draw result is against all expectations and disappointment to the book makers who hyped the Insurance Feeders as favourites to humiliate Akwa Utd junior team who fell to a 1-0 defeat to Bayelsa United under 17 in the zone’s opening match on Thursday.

The young Benin Arsenals however, dominated play, but were wasteful in front of goal, paving the way for Akwa Utd goalkeeper Emediong Uduak to win the Man of the Match award.

Alakwe Godstime, Sylvester Eweka and Wisdom Chimezie had six one-on-one scoring opportunities wasted in the second half in addition to Marvis Eguakun and Omoruyi Endurance first have missed chances.

Insurance Feeders will have to beat Bayelsa United with a good number of goals and wish Rivers Utd who already have four points bad luck against less fancied Akwa Utd in the last group fixtures tomorrow.

In the second game of the day,Rivers Utd defeated Bayelsa Utd 2-1 to lead with four points. Bayelsa Utd are second with three points while Insurance Feeders are placed third with two points, leaving Akwa Utd in the rear with just a point.

As it stands, the South South zone group is still open for the top three teams; Rivers Utd,Bayelsa Utd and Insurance Feeders.

In the final fixtures which will go down simultaneously, Insurance Feeders(2points) are paired against Bayelsa Utd(3points) while Akwa Utd(1point) face leaders Rivers Utd(4points) at 10:00am.
