A philanthropist and promoter of African culture, Dr Ramas Okoye-Asuzu, has called on governor Chukwuma Soludo to setup a traditional medicine board with a view to checkmating insecurity and killings in Anambra state.
Okoye-Asuzu, who made the call in a chat with newsmen at his country-home, Nri, Anaocha Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra state, argued that the spate of insecurity was as a result of fake traditional medicine doctors, ritualists and others masquerading as traditional healers.
According to him, this could not only be checkmated but totally eradicated once those genuinely practising the profession were inaugurated as board and empowered constitutionally to engage with the society while screening, registering and monitoring practitioners’.
The traditional healer added that empowering genuine traditional medicine practitioners to thrive would help to promote health and general well-being, as well as assist in identifying those hiding under traditional religion while actually engaging in ritual killings, kidnapping, robbers and others.
He also commended the governor for launching operation udo gá achị (peace shall prevail) security initiative and urged him to work out modalities towards ensuring they succeed in securing the state without targeting oppositions or innocent citizens.
