Insecurity: Ilorin emirate seeks divine intervention

Concerned about the lingering insecurity challenges confronting the country, the people of Ilorin Emirate in Kwara state Saturday gathered at the palace of the Emir of Ilorin, Alh Ibrahim Sulu- Gambari, to seek divine intervention on the situation.

The Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheik Mohammed Bashir Salihu, led other clerics to offer special prayer for the nation’s leader, requesting God all it takes to win the anti- insurgency and banditry war in all the troubled spots.

Though the special prayer was organised primary to seek God’s guidance for 85 Ilorin Emirate born professors, the Emir directed the clerics to offer special prayer for restoration of peace and tranquillity in every parts of the country.

The Emir acknowledged and praised the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari at curbing insurgency and banditry in all their ramifications.

He, however, maintained that what the nation requires to overcome the hydraheaded security challenges in the various parts of the country is divine intervention through prayers by the leaders of the adherents of the two major faiths in the country.

“I commend President Muhammadu Buhari’s efforts at ending insecurity in the country, but of paramount importance is the need for us to seek divine intervention through prayers in overcoming the insurgents, ” Sulu- Gambari stated.

The Emir also hailed the proactive steps taken so far by the federal government to forestall the spreading of the ravaging coronal virus into the country as well as efforts geared towards halting further spread of Lassa fever.

Back home, Sulu- Gambari, congratulated the recently appointed 17 professors from Ilorin Emirate and task them, including their senior colleagues in the professorial cadres to use their vantage positions to better the lots of Ilorin Emirate, Kwara and Nigeria in general.

He cautioned them against engaging in unnecessary rivalry amongst themselves, counseling them that in unity they would achieve more feats, individually and collectively.
