INEC substituting polling staff with APC members – PDP alleges

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised alarm over alleged substitution of the already trained Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) adhoc staff in various states of the federation with members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

PDP in statement by its spokesperson and director media and publicity of its campaign organization, Kola Ologbondiyan Friday described the act as “surreptitious ploy to use APC members as polling staff is a direct template by the APC in collusion with some INEC officials, to rig the elections for the APC.

He cautioned that, the PDP would never allow this “unscrupulous” attempt at power hijack to stand.

The statement in part reads: “This affront to the collective quest by the people for a credible election is akin to sitting our nation on a keg of gunpowder.

“Already, this heinous scheme, coupled with the refusal of INEC to issue accreditation tags to the PDP agents as well as the refusal to release the Presidential and National Assembly elections result sheets in many states is sparking protests in various parts of the country, a situation that portends negative implications on the electoral process.

“The PDP cautions INEC to note that there is no way it will allow such direct rigging template to stand. If the trend is not reversed immediately, the PDP will have no other option than to unleash our members to take definite legitimate steps to defend our electoral process.”
