In line with the provisions of the Electoral Act that all elections must be concluded 30 days before the handing over date, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kogi has fixed Saturday, April 25, 2015, for the supplementary elections in the state.

A statement issued by Adison Mailafiya on behalf of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Professor Jacob Jatau, in Lokoja yesterday, said the earlier supplementary national and state assembly elections scheduled for May 2, 2015, have been rescheduled for April 25, 2015.

The REC noted that the shift in the date was to enable the commission to adhere to the provisions of the Electoral Act which said all elections must be completed 30 days before handling over date, stressing that the bye-elections would be conducted in all polling units in the state where results were inconclusive.
While regretting the inconvenience the change of date might cause the people concerned, the commission urged the politicians in the polling units where elections were inconclusive to abide by the electoral rules and regulations.
