INEC recruits 1,204 for Bubara\Garki bye election


The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has concluded
arrangements to conduct by election for Bubara \Garki Federal
Constituency of Jigawa state following the death of the former member
representing the constituency, Alhaji Adamu Muhammad Fagen Gawo.

The Resident [REC] Electoral Commissioner, Dr Mahmoud  Isha stated this while responding to questions from our correspondent shortly after the conduct of primary election  of the All Progressive Congress [ APC]  for a seat held at the secretariat of Babura local government area of the state Monday.

Dr. Isah stated that ahead of the bye election, his commission
has recruited 1,204 ad hoc staff who were mostly youth corps members.
 He said they will soon commence training   for the job.
He also said a total of eleven political parties will participate
in the election and assured that the commission will conduct reliable,
acceptable, free and fair poll.
He said  APC conducted its primary election Monday, while the rest will do same Tuesday.
He stated further that in 2019, his commission conducted the best elections in Nigeria which was free from a single litigation  and expressed happiness on the way and manner the APC  conducts its primary and urged the people of Bubara and Garki  to do same during the secondary poll scheduled to hold on 14th, March, 2020.

In a related development Musa Adamu  Muhammad, the elder son of the late member representing Bubara \Garki Federal Constituency emerged
the flag bearer of the APC.  He polled 547 votes to defeat his sibling   Aliyu Adamu Muhammad and two other contestants.

Declaring  the result of the election , the chairman electoral committee  for the polls, Malam  Muhammad Aminu Ibrahim , said Musa Adamu  Muhammad  has scored 547 votes to defeat his younger half brother, Aliyu Musa  Adamu Muhammad  who pulled  32 votes while Engineer Idris Zngina who got only four votes while Isah Dogon Yaro scored no vote.
