Imo varsity SUG elects new executives

The Students Union Government (SUG) of Imo State University, Friday elected officials that would take charge of the affairs of the union in the next one year.

Ojike Arinze Collins polled 715 votes to emerge president, beating Igbonacho Prince Ugochukwu and Ezeala Raphael who polled 492 and 441 votes respectively.

Also, Paul Favour Chiamaka, emerged vice president while Ebimnamaonye Chidiebere Divine emerged the secretary general. There were also winners in other five positions that were keenly contested.

Meanwhile, the Dean, Students Affairs of the university, Prof Martin Uchenna Nwankwo has thanked God for making it possible for them to conduct what was described as the most credible, free and fair election in the history of the institution.

He said many did not believe  they would make it, except the likes of the Vice Chancellor, Prof Victoria Adaobi Obasi; Deputy Vice Chancellor (Admin.), Prof B.E.B. Nwoke and the University Registrar. 

While commending the staff advisers and members of the Students Electoral Committee (SEC) for their contributions towards the success of the election, he advised the newly elected Students Union Government (SUG) to carry their fellow students along by looking into their welfare and working to uphold the dignity of the university.
