Imo: Student shot by proprietor dies after surgery

Victory Paul,   JSS1 student of Urban Secondary School located at Area N World Bank Housing Estate in Owerri, Imo ttate, shot by  the proprietor of Par Excellence  School, Barrister Donald Mbamah  last Monday, has been confirmed dead.

Our correspondent who paid a visit to the school  Friday, gathered  from the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the school that the 11 year-old boy died as a result of wounds sustained  from the gunshot on his private part and intestines.

The main gate of Urban School was also seen  under lock and key as the school authorities  ordered students to go home to avoid breakdown of law and order.

Meanwhile, the property of Par Excellence  School have been destroyed by people believed to  be students of Urban Secondary School.

Items destroyed included two black  jeeps parked in the compound, a power bike,  big generator, chairs desks, windows, doors etc 

The youth of the neighbourhood later locked the school with a padlock to deny a surging crowd  access to the school premises as the proprietor was still in police net.

The Imo Police Command’s spokesman, DSP Henry Okoye, has also confirmed the boy’s  death and assured that justice would prevail as the proprietor was still undergoing interrogation  at the Criminal Investigation Department of the command. 

He added that he would be arraigned in court after  investigation.
