The Imo State Police Command has organized a one-day training focusing on the identification, handling, and disposal of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
The training which was held Friday, was led by CSP M.A. Ogini, Officer in Charge of the Anti-Bomb Squad, and was aimed at improving officers’ ability to detect and neutralize IED threats.
Officers from all divisions and area commands across the state participated in the session, and they would subsequently hold follow-up training pogrammes within their units to share and reinforce the knowledge gained.
In his address on the occasion, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, emphasized the growing use of IEDs in criminal activities by suspected IPOB/ESN terrorists.
He stressed the need for the police to be well-prepared to effectively address these threats and ensure public safety.
CP Danjuma urged officers to fully engage in the training, which he noted would significantly strengthen their ability to respond to these security challenges.
He reaffirmed the Imo State Police Command’s commitment to continuous professional development. He stated that the knowledge gained from the training would be shared across all units, enhancing the force’s readiness to address emerging security threats and maintain public safety in Imo State.
