Imo lawmaker urges Seplat Energy to do more for oil-producing states

The lawmaker representing Ohaji Egbema state Constituency in the Imo state House of Assembly, Uzoma Francis Osuoha (Eze Buguma), has urged Seplat Energy to review their empowerment programmes for oil- producing areas, “especially in  his Ohaji Egbema Constituency” to benefit more and directly from the company.

This followed a series of complaints from Ohaji Egbema people that those from other parts of the state “benefit more from the company’s programmes than the oil producers themselves.”

Osuoha, therefore, suggested that going forward, Seplat Energy should organise more medical outreaches specifically for Ohaji Egbema people and “hold quiz competitions and other new programmes specifically for schools in the area, so that whatever prize money won would be used to develop schools or establishments in the area.”

He said, “What stops  Seplat from opening medical units or outreaches in the Constituency where there will be free medical tests, treatment and drug dispensing, instead of bringing medical outreaches to Owerri? That, I think, will help my people the most and make us appreciate their work also.”
