Imo: INEC reveals polling units governorship election will hold

Ahead of the November 11, 2023 Imo governorship election, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Professor Sylvia Agu has  said elections will take place in 4,720 polling units out of the total number of 4,758 polling units in the state, thus excluding 38 polling units where voter registration did not take place due to insecurity.

Agu stated that the  governorship election had put Imo state on sharp focus and  assured that the commission would conduct a free, fair, credible, transparent, safe and all inclusive governorship election.

She said so far  INEC in the state had concluded 11 activities out of the 13 on their programme and that what remained were the last day of campaign and the election itself.

She added that the commission also planned to hold a dialogue with stakeholders to promote the credibility and inclusivity of the election.

On the transportation of materials to election venues, Professor Agu said they had a meeting with transporters to forestall all transport problems before the election and therefore, would not anticipate any transport problems on election day.

She finally reiterated that the election results would be collated and uploaded on the IREV after snapping with the BVAS machine.
