Imo: Catholic priest, driver regain freedom 7 days after abduction

The parish priest of St Michael’s Catholic Church  Umuekebi, Osuowerre autonomous community in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo state, Rev. Fr. Kingsley Eze, also known as “Father Ichie” and his driver, Uchenna Newman who were kidnapped last week Thursday, have regained freedom.

The duo were driving in a Volvo Jeep along Orieama junction in the state around 8pm when the gunmen who also robbed shop owners on the road kidnapped them.

A source who confirmed their release, said that the priest’s vehicle was towed down home after they regained freedom, while another source said the parishioners were happy as the news of their freedom filtered the air.

However, the Imo Police Command was yet to confirm their release as at the time of filing this report.
