Immunization: Yobe set to widen coverage



Yobe state government has has concluded arrangements to widen the coverage of primary healthcare and outreach immunizations so that the killer diseases could totally be eliminated in the state.

Governor Ibrahim Gaidam disclosed this on Tuesday in Damaturu while briefing newsmen on the progresses made on exercise.

The governor who was represented by his Deputy, Abubakar D. Aliyu, said Yobe state government had made concerted efforts and collaboration with other donour agencies and had continued to widen coverage of primary healthcare activities especially for children and
women.

“We also ensure that all the underserved, remote and hard to reach communities and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) are not left out. The state also worked relentlessly to ensure provision of at least one standard functional Primary Health Care facility per ward in the state,” he said.

He further stated: “the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the state government, Bill and Melinda Gates and Dangote Foundations had helped in strengthening primary healthcare institution.

Dr. Musa Matazu, who represented Bill and Melinda Gates and Dangote Foundations stated that dedication and exemplary leadership of the deputy governor as the chairman, state Task Force on Immunization was the force behind the successes recorded.

There was a goodwill message by Alhaji Adamu Baffale, the representative of World Health Organisation (WHO).
