I’m not barren, Obaseki’s wife replies Oshiomhole

Wife of the Edo state governor, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, has said she was not a barren woman, noting that she had conceived and experienced miscarriages, painful stillbirths, and evacuations of babies who died in her womb.

The Edo state first lady urged childless women to see themselves not as barren, but fruitful, potential, and proud mothers of children that would come in God’s time.

She stated this while addressing over 200 women who joined her in  a zoom meeting with Edo women in the diaporal at the weekend.

Betsy was also joined in the zoom meeting with Mrs. Ifeyiwa Ighodalo, wife of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the September 21 governorship election in Edo state.

The Edo governor’s wife shared her thoughts in response to a viral video in which Senator Adams Oshiomhole made remarks about her being childless.

Betsy Obaseki said: “My words of comfort to you, like myself, who have conceived and experienced miscarriages, painful stillbirths, and evacuations of babies who died in our wombs

“And as a result, have no children to show for the pain we have endured, is this: You are not barren.

“I dare to call you fruitful. You and I are potential and proud mothers of children that will come in God’s time. Enjoy the life God has given you.

“Take your mind off your challenge, and before you know it, children will start coming,” she stated.

Continuing, Betsy said, being fruitful was not limited to childbearing, pointing out that “it’s about impacting lives and creating positive change in society.”
