I’ll return Ohuhu to Abia mainstream politics, says Aguocha

The newly elected President General of Ohuhu land in Umuahia North LGA of Abia state, High Chief Obinna Aguocha, has promised to return the clan to the mainstream of  Abia state politics and restore its lost glory within the life span of the present state executive.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony at Umuawa Alaocha Ohuhu Central School, Umuahia, the newly elected leader promised to reverse the present political backwardness of the area.

He also vowed to relaunch the community into the mainstream political arena and thus make it a formidable political empire it once was in the former South East Regional government.

He assured that the community will no longer play second fiddle, noting the Exco will swing into action to recover the lost glory, promote and project the cultural heritage of the people and ensure economic development of the land.

Also speaking, the Education Secretary of Umuahia North LGA, Hon Clement Onyeziri, who was a member of Electoral Committee, said the new leader emerged because the people believe in his ability and capability to relaunch Ohuhu to the epicentre of Abia politics and other socio-cultral concerns of their people.

Previously, Ohuhu community had produced the likes of late Dr M I Okpara,the premier of defunct Eastern Nigeria,late Chief Sam Okwulehie, the Mayor of Umuahia in the 1960s, Chief Onyema Ugochukwu,veteran Journalist, former NDDC Chairman and 2007 governorship candidate of PDP, High Chief Ikechi Emenike.

Others are Dr Mrs Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, former Minister of Finance, who is married at Umuda Ohuhu land and immediate past Minister of Trade and Investment, Dr Okechukwu Enelama, and the mother of Dame Patience Goodluck Jonathan, the wife of former president of Nigeria, among other eminent personalities.
