The former Jigawa state Governor and likely Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), presidential aspirant, Alhaji Sule Lamido, is upbeat he would be elected Nigeria’s President-Elect come 2019.
The former governor, Lamido who stated this while addressing thousands of his supporters during the commissioning of his Central Campaign office’ in Birninkudu, the headquarters of Bininkudu local government of the state over the weekend, assured them that he was waiting to be sworn in.
He said all efforts by the ruling APC federal government to truncate his presidential ambition would be fighting against the will of God.
“Dared anyone in power from the president downward the ladder to attempt preventing the will of God on my aspiration whoever that person maybe, is a joker”.
Lamido averred that the 2019 presidential election is undoubtedly going to be between two northern Muslim, Fulani men that were both at one time governors and ministers at their different times.
“I challenge Buhari, I am Fulani by birth, by language, by region and he is Fulani by birth, but not by language because he cannot speak or call a single word in Fulfulde as I do. So the Fulfulde I spoke today let him interpret the sentences if he can”, Lamido said.
Further, Lamido said: “the difference between myself and Buhari is that, although he was one time a governor under the military but never served the people.
“He was Minister of Petroleum that was not known by many whereas, during my time as Foreign Affairs Minister I was known all over the world while my work as former governor of eight years is there to speak for me.
“There is no soul on earth that can stop the will of Allah if he desired that I should be president of this country no matter the ‎intimidation or harassment through court persecution, I shall certainly be”, he enthused.
The former governor said he has a long political history through which he rose from the position party youth leader to assembly member in 1979, party chieftain, minister and subsequently the governor of Jigawa with only but few failed attempts.
“I was tormented and jailed for my doggedness and belief in the entrenchment of democracy in the country. We founded the PDP and made former President Olusegun Obasanjo to lead to appease the South West that was denied the ticket after the June 12 election”, he said noting that he has paid his dues in the development of party politics in Nigeria.
He alleged that Buhari and the APC used lies to deceived Nigerians prior to the 2015 elections, but pointed out that the people have now known the truth better and would manifest their discontent against the APC in the 2019 polls.
