Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter of the apex pan Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has congratulated the new president of the National Executive Council of the organisation, Senator John Azuta-Mbata.
Senator Azuta-Mbata emerged victorious in the in an election held in Enugu on Friday, January 10, 2025.
The new Ohanaeze leader, who represented Rivers East Senatorial District in National Assembly from 1999 to 2007, made history in the Ohanaeze as the first Igbo of the Ikwerre extraction in Rivers state to lead the apex Igbo body.
In a congratulatory message signed and made available to the media, the FCT president of Ohanaeze, Chief Eze Primacy Okadigbo, urged the new NEC of the body to synergise with Igbos in Diaspora and other key organisations to drive socio-economic development in Igboland.
“Hearty congratulations to Senator Azuta John Mbata on his election as the president-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, and to the newly elected National Executive Committee. This is a remarkable achievement, especially considering Senator Mbata is the first leader from Rivers state to hold this position.”
