IGP urges new recruits to embark on career of service, duty 

The Inspector General of Police, IGP, Egbetokun Olukayode, has urged newly recruited police personnel to leave their civilian status behind and embark on a career of service and duty.

He made the remarks during the passing out ceremony of 10,000 police Constables of 2022 Batch held at the 4 police colleges and 12 police training schools across the country in Lagos.

“It is my pleasure to welcome you all to this passing-out parade ceremony of 10,000 new Police Constables of the 2022 Batch of the Nigeria Police Force Recruitment Scheme.

“Today’s passing-out parade signifies a pivotal transition for these individuals, as they formally assume their roles as professional police officers, leaving their civilian status behind and embarking on a career of service and duty” 

Egbetokun stated that in the course of their training, “we have instilled in these recruits the necessary orientation to effectively address the complex security challenges facing our nation, while adhering to the principles of the law.”

 He stated further that: “Our comprehensive and research based curriculum has equipped them with fundamental policing ethics, norms and practices, as well as modern law enforcement principles.

“We have high expectations for this graduating class of constables, and we are confident that they will uphold the values imparted to them during their training, thereby contributing to the enhancement of law enforcement in our country.

“The successful completion of this recruit training and today’s graduation ceremony, mark a significant milestone and a major step forward for the federal government, under the leadership of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
