The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), M.D. Abubakar’s Peace and Security Committee on Fulani herdsmen/Farmers has said that it had solved the problems of incessant crisis amongst the Fulani/farmers in the North.
Speaking with newsmen in Abuja, one of the committee members and National President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Alhaji Bello Abdullahi Bodejo, said within a short time frame, they had been able to unmask the criminal elements disguising as herdsmen/farmers to perpetrate and promote the crises in Benue, Plateau, Taraba, Nasarawa, Kaduna and Zamfara.
He said the committee, haired by DIG Zuokumor E. Michael, had done a great work in bringing peace to those areas where clashes had been reported.
Bodejo said he had observed that the so-called leaders amongst the communities were behind the crises and called on those behind it to desist from that habit, warning them to stop in order to enable peace reign.
He said: “I am calling on the Fulani leaders and other communities to cooperate with the IGP reconciliation committee in a bid to avoid further occurrences in those states we visited. The security agencies are ready to deal with and bring to book any person that refuses to obey the constitutional law of our land.
“I want the Fulani to cooperate with the IGP committee members intheir states, especially the AIGs, CPs Area commanders, divisional police officers, community leaders/leaders of farmers’ associations and local leaders of herdsmen in their different areas to maintain peace.”
He urged individual Fulani to report any case of extortion from them to the nearest police station.
