Igbo group serves alert as new ministers emerge Wednesday

Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth (OYC) worldwide has called on ministers from South-east and South-south to work for the collective interest of the region while in the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

The President General of the group, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, who said this in a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday, urged them to ensure that projects designated for the zones are realised.

He enjoyed the brand new ministers to work in synergy in order to achieve peace in the zones.

The statement reads in part: “Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council worldwide wish to remind the newly appointed ministers from the South-east and South-south states of the enormous challenges ahead of them.

“We expect that irrespective of the ministries they’ll be assigned to, they should collectively protect the interests of Ndigbo, and ensure that those resolutions reached by the last Federal Executive Committee on developmental projects, like dualization of  Aba/ikot express road, Umuahia-Ikot Ekpene road,Abaomege-Ugep road and completion of Second Niger bridge, Onitsha-Enugu, Enugu-Ph roads.

“With the uprising gathering momentum in the Igbo land, they will be vulnerable to attack if they pursue personal interest ahead of collective bargaining and expectations of Igbos .They should vigorously project that the eastern railway line that cut across all the commercial cities and major towns in Igbo land.”
