ICAN builds 300-capacity lecture hall for ABU

Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has awarded contract for the construction of 300 capacity ultra modern lecture theatre in the Department of Accounting, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Speaking at the ground breaking ceremony of the project held at University’s Business School, yesterday President of the Institute, Deacon Titus Soetan, said that the project had completion period of 6 months.

He explained that the idea of building and donation of the edifice was aimed providing more improving teaching and learning condition in the department.
Soetan pointed out that the department faced infrastructural challenges which his Institution deemed necessary to assist in that regards.
“The project will go along in actualising our institute initiative of enhancing growth and development of accounting education in Nigeria.
“On behalf of the Council of the Institute, I expressed our gratitude to the vice chancellor and governing council of Ahmadu Bello University for providing platform through which the relationship between ICAN and ABU is established today”, he stated.

Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Ibrahim Garba, said that the donation came barely three month after the senate and management had approved establishment of ABU Business School, with departments of accounting, business administration and economics..
He added that with this development, the departments would be housed by the school on main campus to join department of economics
Garba, therefore, thanked the Institute for the support to the department, he appealed to the Institute to expand the gesture by furnishing the lecture theatre after completion.
