The Attorney General and Minister of Justice of the Federal, Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), Monday, hinted that the NBA Ibadan branch has contributed immensely to the growth of judiciary and the advancement of the rule of law in Nigeria.
Prince Fagbemi dropped this hint in Ibadan while speaking at the opening of the 70th anniversary of the Ibadan branch NBA held at the Afe Babalola hall, NBA secretariat.
He declared that Ibadan NBA branch since its inception has produced some of the most brilliant and highly revered legal minds, jurists, and practitioners that have contributed immensely to the growth of judiciary and the advancement of the rule of law in Nigeria.
“Over the years , the Premier Bar , has consistently stood tall among it’s peers , producing some of the most brilliant and highly revered legal minds, jurists, and practitioners that have contributed immensely to the growth of judiciary and the advancement of the rule of law in Nigeria,” he said .
Prince Fagbemi (SAN) added, “As a bonafide member of this esteemed branch, I look back with deep gratitude on the formative years I spent within the Ibadan Bar, where I began my legal career, cutting my teeth in the noble profession that has since become the cornerstone of my journey.
“The legacy of excellence, diligence, and integrity that deserves to be celebrated, not just by members of the legal profession, but by all Nigerians.”
Prince Fagbemi (SAN) stressed,” From its inception, the Office of The Attorney -General of The Federation and Minister of Justice branch has remained a beacon of legal practice and has contributed significantly to nation-building, Justice delivery, and the promotion of human rights”
In his keynote address,titled “Ibadan Bar’s Platinum Jubilee: An Interrogation of the Premiership of the Premier Bar”, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), disclosed that ” Ibadan Bar has always been an incubator for producing legal luminaries who have distinguished themselves for national service”.
According to Olanipekun, “Ibadan Bar has excelled in the legal profession by every imaginable matrix, it is living up to its bidding not just by attracting to itself the moniker “Premier Bar “, but by doing exploits.
” In terms of the quality and contents of its products, past and present, it towers high among the comity of NBA branches in Nigeria”.
In his remarks, Governor Seyi Makinde, represented by his Deputy Governor, Barrister Adebayo Lawal and other icons in the legal profession, eulogized NBA, Ibadan branch for it contribution to the development of legal practice in Nigeria.
