Ibadan: 5 in Police net over violence

No fewer than five suspects are now in police net in Oyo state over Sunday’s attacks on some residents of Ibadan by suspected hoodlums.

According to investigations, the hoodlums during the violence on Aremo and other areas in Ibadan, looted some shops belonging to citizens, while cars as well as other valuable property were destroyed and carted away.

It was learnt that the Sunday attack on Aremo and other communities in the area was a reprisal of an earlier clash between two rival groups in Ibadan

Oyo State Police command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Lawrence  Fadeyi in a statement confirmed the arrest of the five suspects, saying  they suspects would be transferred to SCID for discreet instigation.

SP Fadeyi in the statement said the five suspects were arrested by the collaborative efforts of joint patrol teams from Agugu, Mapo and Idi- Aro Police stations.

He said, “in response to the incident at Aremo, five suspects were arrested by collaborative efforts of Joint patrol teams from Agugu, Mapo and Idi- Aro.”

The PPRO emphasized that the suspects will be transfer to SCID Iyaganku, Ibadan for discreet investigation,”
