Kannywood Actress, Aisha Muhammad, also known as Ummi Sarauniya, speaks to Ibrahim Hamisu about her journey in the movie industry, achievements, and how she managed to feature in a lot of movies in less than three years in Kannywood.
What is your ultimate goal within the Kannywood industry?
My main goal is to gain recognition worldwide and become famous. I want people who envy me for treating them well to witness my success.
If they request favours, I want to be able to fulfill it, proving them wrong after trying to discredit me.
I want them to understand that the film industry is not what they perceive it to be.
Unfortunately, some individuals have misled others due to their actions within the industry. From my perspective, it can be viewed as a profitable business or even a community, depending on how one approaches it.
Some people see Kannywood as a cause of moral decadence in society. What is your take on this?
What I would like to emphasize is that the film industry consists of both good and bad individuals. It is unfair to generalise and assume that everyone involved is corrupt. It’s crucial to live with someone and truly understand their character before making judgments.
Yes, there may be certain issues within Kannywood but that doesn’t mean everyone lacks morals.
I encourage people to educate themselves about the true nature of Kannywood. It comprises teachers and outstanding individuals who should not be subjected to such unfounded accusations.
Unfortunately, some people profit by spreading false narratives about us and claiming that we lack morality, which is entirely untrue.
Why did you join Kannywood film industry?
I view the Kannywood industry as a lucrative business opportunity. Many individuals have entered Kannywood and achieved significant financial success and reputation.
Regarding marriage, do you have any plans to remarry?
Honestly, at this stage of my life, I wholeheartedly devote myself to the film industry. Marriage has been challenging for me. It has left scars on me both physically and emotionally. Therefore, I am currently focused on my career. However, I pray that God guides me towards what is best, whether it be marriage or a career in film. If I’m being honest, I have a greater passion for the film industry than anything else.
I want to be a person who can fulfill others’ requests and bring blessings to their lives. If the world recognises me, I believe I can make a positive impact. Kannywood offers me this opportunity, and I’m eager to embrace it.
If you meet someone who wants to marry you and you can continue your career in film, would you consider marrying him?
Honestly, I’m uncertain about marrying someone while continuing my film career. I married someone in the past whom I didn’t genuinely like, and I knew he wouldn’t fulfill his promises. Being in the film industry involves interacting with men, and you can be approached at any time. It’s not something every man would be comfortable with, and even as a wife, seeing your partner interact with other women can lead to unhappiness and complications.
Who is your closest friend within Kannywood?
I don’t really have a close friend within Kannywood with whom I can share my secrets. However, my mother is my confidant and my pillar of support. She means the world to me.
What are your wishes for your loved ones?
I am grateful for the text messages and verbal expressions of love and support from my loved ones. Their greetings and praises make me happy, and I appreciate their presence in my life.
Regarding my professional relationships, there are some issues we face, such as lack of cooperation and envy. It’s important for us to address and overcome these problems, and we should unite to achieve our collective goals.
Jealousy, envy, and negativity should be eliminated from our midst. There is a tendency for some people to feel upset when others succeed, thinking they won’t achieve the same level of success. I urge my colleagues to let go of jealousy, bitterness, and negative attitudes.
Additionally, arrogance is another problem that exists among individuals, both famous and non-famous.
Is arrogance more prevalent among famous people?
No, arrogance is not limited to the famous alone. It exists among individuals regardless of their fame or status. I know someone who has acted in three Kannywood movies but has stopped responding to people’s calls. This behavior stems from their overinflated ego, thinking they have achieved the same level of success as someone like Ali Nuhu just because they acted a single scene with him. It’s a display of arrogance and it is inappropriate.
We need to confront and address the attitudes and behaviours we exhibit. We should submit ourselves to God and trust that He will guide us in the right direction. Therefore, I call on all of us to unite and become a strong, cohesive force. By doing so, we can surpass our expectations and achieve our goals together.
