Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano state has said his administration has no axe to grind with all the security agencies in the state, just as he expressed the commitment of his government to face security challenges in the state.
Addressing the people of the state, Wednesday night, Governor Yusuf stated that he commands considerable respect from the agencies and that he was ever willing to sustain the fight against agents of criminal banditry.
He pointed out that despite the present security challenges his administration has made considerable inroad in confronting the menace of phone snatchers who out of their sheer wickedness have wreaked havoc on innocent people.
He said his government had also purchased patrol vehicles for the police for them to embrace the task of bursting crimes, adding that with the respect and cooperation he was enjoying from the police and other security agencies, the road to achieving the goal of making Kano a crime free state would never be a far cry.
Commenting on his resolve to fight corruption in all its ramifications, the governor maintained that he had empowered the state anti graft agency to do what is legally expedient in fighting the menace head on, affirming that that he had no intention of shielding members of his cabinet when a case of corrupt practices was fully established against any of them.
On the issue of local government autonomy, which came in the wake of the recent election held in all the 44LGAs, Governor Yusuf stated that with the credibility of the election, nothing could stand as a cog in their way to receiving their monthly grant, stressing however that his government would be very much concerned about the issue of accountability and honesty.
