I haven’t abandoned Yakowa’s projects – Yero

Governor Mukhtar Yero of Kaduna state yesterday denied insinuations that he had abandoned projects started by his predecessor, the late Governor Patrick Yakowa, saying that the projects were ongoing, except where the contractors were posing challenges to the state.

Addressing a Forum of Former Councillors in the 23 local government areas, who paid him a courtesy visit in Kaduna, the governor said the projects started by the late Yakowa were ongoing except for the ones where work was stalled due to laxity on the part of the contractors handling them.

He stressed the need for people to promote peaceful coexistence, rather than wrongful insinuation and baseless allegations that would cause havoc in the state.

Yero advised the politicians not to allow political issues affect their relationship with friends, relations and colleagues, but rather proffer ways that would further enhance peaceful coexistence amongst the people.

He also assured the councillors that all their outstanding allowances at their various local government areas would be paid.
Leader of the Forum, Alhaji Yahaya Kakiyeyi, in his opening address, appealed to the state government to intervene in the payment of all their outstanding fees. He assured the governor that the Forum was ever ready to support him in his 2015 political aspirations.
