All Progressives Congress (APC) National Vice Chairman for the South-east, Chief Emma Eneukwu, has denied reports that he had a brawl with the Enugu state APC governorship candidate, Okey Ezea, over ministerial nominations, saying that the issue of allocation of political offices had not gotten to the extent of generating such squabbles.
He, however, said the South-east caucus is forging a common front to get the party leadership and the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, to give consideration to what is best for the region, by consider it to produce the next Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
Responding to report of crisis rocking the region chapter of APC over appointments yesterday in Abuja, the vice chairman said: “It is surprising to me and a number persons have called me to say that they read that in the papers where it was reported that I slapped our governorship candidate.
“It is shocking, they said the allegation was made through text message and I do know where allegations of such nature will be made through telephone text but since you have raised the matter, I want to categorically say that I was not involved in any violence or scuffle with anybody, let alone the governorship candidate, Okey Ezea.”
“We understand how the result of the last elections have pushed us to a tight corner where presently find ourselves. This situation demands that we unite and we are losing sight of that. We are solidly united and together in whatever we are pursuing now.”
