The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains the popular party in Sokoto and would wrestle power from the All Progressive Congress (APC) come 2015, Senator Ahmed Mohammed Maccido has said.
He stated this yesterday in Sokoto while fielding questions from newsmen shortly after receiving his PDP membership registration card at his Sarkin Musulmi Ward A.
Maccido, who is also the chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriation, also maintained that PDP was the only true national party capable of uniting and holding the country together.
On his ambition to return to the upper chamber of the National Assembly, Maccido said he was ready to return if his people wanted him to continue.
He said if his people asked him to re-contest, he had no choice but to succumb and that he was not afraid of anybody joining the race.
‘”I am not afraid of anybody joining the race and I will not be intimidated by anybody’s ambition; I am ready to slug it out with anybody,” he said.
Maccido, a Prince of the Sokoto Caliphate, is serving his second term and may face Governor Aliyu Magatakardan Wamakko should the governor decide to run for the senatorial slot come 2015 general elections.
Meanwhile, Maccido said he had expended millions of naira to provide dividends of democracy to his constituency through the provision of health care facilities, scholarship, agric skills and empowerment programmes.
