A former Minister of Aviation, Felix Hassan Hyat, is set to challenge Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero in 2015 Kaduna state governorship election.
Sources close to the former minister told our reporter yesterday in Kaduna that he was currently abroad allegedly putting finishing touches to preparations ahead of making it official to the state chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
It was also gathered that some prominent members of the party in the state and other stakeholders were said to be behind the former minister’s bid.

One of the sources said: “I can confidently tell you from today that Hyat will join the race, I mean the governorship race in our party without any doubt and we are done with that.”
He added that contrary to the insinuation that Hyat had dumped the PDP, he was even in-charge of the grassroots membership of the PDP in his Southern Kaduna Zone, saying “I am telling you, the state will witness a politics it has never seen 1999.”
“Hyat is a bonafide and foundational member of PDP; he has not dumped the party instead he is even in control of real grassroots members of the party in his Southern Kaduna Zone. Forget about noisemakers and new comers that came to our party in the middle of the night.”
It was also gathered that those peddling Yero’s candidacy had commenced underground moves too in a bid to contend Hyat’s entry and as well threats posed by the All Progressive Congress (APC).
The Yero’s team led by Alhaji Husseini Mamman Jallo at the weekend concluded its tour of Southern Kaduna and would move to Kaduna North and Central zones, another stronghold of the APC.
