How DSS saved Osun gov, wife, others on New Year’s eve

Osun state Governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola, and some members of his cabinet, were on the eve of new year attacked by thugs suspected to be “state boys”, Blueprint has gathered. 

The state government had organised a cross over party at Nelson Mandela freedom park to welcome the new year. 

It was gathered that some suspected thugs started shooting guns in the direction of government functionaries this causing chaos. 

According to a source, the wife of the governor, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola, Chief of Staff, Dr. Charles Akinola, Secretary to the state government, Wole Oyebanji, the APC state Chairman, Gboyega Famoodun, among others were there at the function. 
It was further leant that the attack, which started around, took the intervention of State Security Service to rescue the governor and some of his cabinet. 

The source said the programme ended abruptly as people scampered for safety. 

The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Ismail Omipidan, said it was not attack on the governor. 

He said that two groups were fighting outside the venue, the governor was not attack he went to attend a prayer programme. 

But a source confided in our Correspondent that the disruption was carefully planned because the venue was peaceful until the miscreants took over.

According to another source, the action of the thugs forced the Governor and his entourage to vacate the venue and returned to the government House amidst confusion as gun was shot into the air sporadically.

“As the thugs begins to throw stones around, first targeting the dignitaries, the Governor’s entourage left and everyone begin to scamper for safety some of us ran towards the police station but we were asked to go somewhere else.

“The whole scene was horrible that we had to walk to Alekuwodo to get a commercial motorcycle to Ayetoro”, the source added.
