How bandits tortured abducted royal father to death in Niger – Subjects

The Village Head of Madaka, in Rafi Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger state, Zakari Ya’u Idris, has been reported dead from torture by his abductors barely a week after he was kidnapped from his palace by bandits.


The traditional ruler was abducted on Sunday, December 20, 2020 by gunmen who invaded Madaka community where they murdered three persons.
The murder of the royal father was confirmed to Journalists at the weekend by the Chief of Staff to council chairman of Rafi LGA, Mohammed Mohammed.


He said the bandits had earlier contacted the family of the deceased to pay a ransom of N800,000.00  
According to him, “However while the contact was on, five of his subjects who were released after they paid their own ransom told us that the village head of Madaka had been killed by the bandits.
“After gaining freedom, they said Zakari Idris was killed after going through torture in the hands of the gunmen, as they were always beating him.”


He said the report also indicated that the remains of the traditional ruler was buried in the bush by the bandits.
The village head was abducted for a second time barely a month after his release from three months captivity in the camp of the bandits.


Meanwhile, another traditional ruler, the district head of Gunna who was abducted in Yakila in the same local government is yet to regain freedom.


According to Mohammed, the gunmen were yet to get in touch with relations of the district head to demand for any ransom.
