House breaking: Newly pardoned convict sent back to prison in Osun 

 

A 27-year-old Omisakin Sunday, one of the inmates pardoned by governor Ademola Adeleke recently, has been sent back to prison for alleged house breaking and stealing.

Magistrate Adekanmi Adeyeba who presided over the arraignment of the ex-convict in Osogbo, had adjourned the matter for consideration of bail before he learnt that the defendant was just pardoned from prison.

He immediately ordered that the defendant be remanded in Ilesa correctional centre.

The defendant who was number 8 on the pardon list of governor Adeleke on December 26, 2024, was alleged to have committed another crime on January 3rd after release.

The police prosecutor, told the court that the defendant broke into the house of one Shittu Damilare and stole a Plasma TV, valued at N600,000.

The charge against the defendant reads: That you Adebayo Omisakin Sunday ‘m’ on the 3rd day of January 2025 at about 12:00pm at Al-medinat Area Iludun Osogbo in the Osogbo Magisterial district did break and entered the house of one Shittu Damilare ‘m’ and steal one Plasma TV valued the sum of Six Hundred Thousand Naira (N600,000:00k) only and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 411 (1) (2) of criminal code cap 34 vol.Il laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.

“That you Adebayo Omisakin Sunday ‘m’ and on the same date, time and place in the Aforementioned Magisterial District did Steal one Plasma TV valued the sum of Six Hundred Thousand Naira (N600,000:00k) only property of one Shittu Damilare ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 383 and punishable under 390 (9) of Criminal Code Cap 34 Voi.II laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002,” he said.

The prosecutor told the court that the defendant was serving a jail term having been sentenced by a magistrate in another court in Osogbo, before he was pardoned by the governor last year.

Magistrate Adekanmi Adeyeba, thereby ordered that the defendant be remanded in Ilesa correctional centre.
