Homicide: Kaduna prosecutes 41 Sarasuka ‘gangsters’

Kaduna state government is set to prosecute 41 Sarasuka gangsters that had allegedly attacked citizens with dangerous weapon, following their arrest by the Kaduna state Security Council. Th e suspects were arrested in diff erent locations in Zaria and Kaduna by security operatives. Th e gangsters who are popularly known as ‘Yan Sara-Suka’ or ‘Yan Shara’ are to be prosecuted for causing deaths and injuries. Th e Security Council also directed that the suspects be charged for illegal possession of weapons, disturbance of public peace, homicide and unlawful assembly. According to a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Samuel Aruwan, “the suspects includes; Salisu Abubakar, Kabiru Auwal, Isyaku Ibrahim, Salisu Musa, Shamsudeen Ahmed, Mohammed Ibrahim And Ali Tukur who were all arrested at Tudun Wada, Zaria.”

It read in part: “Aliyu Auwal, Abba Yusuf, Sadiq Balarabe, Sharif Abdullahi, Mustapha Aliyu, Bashir Ibrahim, Najib Yusuf and Daddy Yusuf were all arrested at Kabala Doki Area of Kaduna. “From Kawo Area in Kaduna, Ahmed Abdurasak, Ibrahim Hassan, Abdulsalam Mohammed, Umurana Shuaibu, Mohammed Ibrahim, Hamisu Umar, Sadiq Ismail, Gadafi Yusuf, Hassan Shuaibu, Zailani Magaji and Jibril Idris were arrested. “Mansur Sani, Ismail Dahiru, Mukailu Yusuf, Sani Nasiru, Aminu Sanusi, Rabiu Musa, Umar Tanimu, Ibrahim Idris, Mohammed Abdurahaman, Mohammed Abdullahi and Shabale Adamu were also nabbed in Kawo.” Th e Security Council also named three persons who would be prosecuted for acts related to terrorism and possession of dangerous weapons as follows: Haruna Usman, Badiya Garba, Saleem Shuaibu and Ashiru Abdullahi.
